# Carl Froch Urges British Former World Champion To ‘Stay Retired’

Carl Froch has sent advice Kell Brook’s way as the former world welterweight champion continues to consider a comeback.

Brook officially hung up the gloves after defeating longtime rival Amir Khan in February of 2022. The one-sided sixth round stoppage win in Manchester was a fitting exit for ‘Special K’, who had previously beat Shawn Porter on away soil to become the 147lbs IBF world champion.

[At 36-years-old, Brook informed fans that he would be retiring in May, three months on from the Khan victory.](https://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/12607380/kell-brook-former-welterweight-champion-announces-retirement-from-boxing-aged-36) Despite that decision, it wasn’t long until he was linked to a bout with Conor Benn that was aided by some public exchanges between the two.

More recently, Brook has said he would entertain a fight with Chris Eubank Jr, which would have to take place at a minimum of 160lbs.

Carl Froch, who himself retired back in 2014, has advised Brook via [Lord Ping](https://www.lordping.co.uk/blog/opinions/carl-froch-opinions/) to find something else to fill his days.

> “Kell Brook needs to leave it. He’s been out of the ring too long now. He had his last hurrah against Amir Khan, he had that big payday, a big night under the lights, that was his testimonial fight. He needs to stay retired, don’t entertain it. It’s too hard of a sport to come back after the lay off he’s had. He needs to find something else in retirement.”

[Johnny Nelson has echoed these thoughts to his friend from Sheffield](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/johnny-nelson-on-eubank-brook/), despite knowing that promoters will be trying their hardest to make the fight with Eubank happen.

Brook has remained open on the topic, but will likely be looking to make a final decision soon.
