It has been confirmed that Paul Butler will get another chance to challenge John Riel Casimero for the WBO bantamweight title.
Boxing Social brought you the news last month that the former IBF bantamweight champion had not only landed a second opportunity against the Filipino but has home advantage too. The fight will take place at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on April 22.
Casimero and Butler had been scheduled to face one another on December 11 in Dubai but the champion pulled out the day before due to illness. The WBO offered Butler an Interim title fight against Joseph Agbeko instead but turned it down.
Butler’s promoter Probellum, who have the rights to the world title fight, reached an agreement with the WBO to reschedule the fight for April.
The undercard will feature a host of Liverpool fighters including Rocky Fielding, Peter and Joe McGrail as well as Oldham’s Will Cawley and Sunderland’s Luke McCorma
