Srisaket Sor Rungvisai will aim to make the second defence of his WBC Super Flyweight world title on February 24th, 2018.
That fight will take place at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
A common opponent who has faced both combatants is Roman Gonzalez and he has weighed in with his opinions on the match-up.
Gonzalez successfully defended his WBA light-flyweight title against Estrada via a unanimous decision in 2012.
On the other hand, Roman Gonzalez surrendered both his WBC Super Flyweight title and his undefeated record in a gruelling 12-round clash in their first fight.
Gonzalez then was brutally knocked cold in the fourth round of his rematch with the all-action Thai slugger.
Many consider that fight to have been the most emphatic knockout of 2017.
“I’m going to be watching Estrada-Rungvisai, I do not wish anyone any harm.
The one with the best conditioning will win the fight,” said the all-time great, four-weight world champion.
Roman Gonzalez stressed to his former adversary, that his best bet to secure victory will be to box and move opposite Rungvisai.
Gonzalez has personal experience of how concussive and heavy-handed Rungvisai’s blows can be.
Standing in the pocket with him is something that should be avoided, the Nicaraguan said.
“Estrada, what he has to do is move for the whole fight and not stand with Rungvisai. If he stands [in front of him], it will be dangerous.”
Last week, Chocolatito shared he doesn’t want to rush back to world championship level as he is not ready physically and mentally.
Many have said that if Estrada is successful, it makes the Chocolatito fight an intriguing proposition.
He, however, reconfirmed what he said and an Estrada win will not change that.
“I will say this, that because I beat Estrada once – the people at HBO are going to want that fight to happen immediately and that is not what we want to do.”
“We want to take things calmly. We’ll see what happen.”
“Estrada is good, he knows how to do things well. But Rungvisai is a guy who hits very hard, he is very complicated,” Gonzalez said.
