Chris Eubank Jr is now a promotional free agent having revealed that he has split from his long-time relationship with Sauerland and Wasserman Boxing.
Eubank Jr.’s departure from Wasserman and the Sauerland Brothers will certainly stir up the boxing world. They jointly stated over the weekend that they had enjoyed ‘an emotional ride,’ and Eubank has since said that there were different views as to where his career should go and it is that which had to the unexpected parting of ways.
He took to X after the news broke to add further insight and also share tips for other young boxers out there.
“I’m a free agent again! Word of advice to any up-and-coming fighters. Get yourself a solid legal and management team; make sure you only work with promoters that align with your vision, goals, and dreams. These truths will set you free!”
It is thought that Sauerland wanted to get Eubank in a contest to battle it out for the IBO belt for the third time while Eubank was more focused on winning one of the four more recognised world titles.
He has not fought for seven months since his brilliant rematch win over Liam Smith. That was his best performance in the ring and saw him stop the tough former middleweight world champion Smith having himself rather shockingly been stopped when the pair first fought in February last year.
This is not the first time Eubank has parted ways with his team having last year announced that he was no longer working with his trainer, Roy Jones Jr, instead opting to have Terence Crawford’s man Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre. in his corner for the Smith rematch.
With Eubank now a free agent, the possibilities for his future matchups are wide open. They include a potential third fight with Liam Smith, a still much talked about clash with Conor Benn desire the fact it is now over 18 months since they were first scheduled to fight before Benn failed two drug tests, or he could chase a title challenge against unified ruler Janibek Alimkhanuly.
All of these present exciting opportunities for Eubank to further cement his legacy in the sport but first he will now have to find a new promoter to be fighting in his corner and helping to make these contests happen.
