# ‘Arrogant’ Chris Eubank Jr Told He’ll Never Win A World Title By Fierce Rival

Chris Eubank Jr’s stock is high at the moment, following his impressive [revenge win over Liam Smith back in September](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/boxing-world-reacts-eubank-smith/), when he stopped Smith at the Manchester Arena.

However, a man Eubank once shared the ring with has taken a swipe at him in a recent interview this week, saying he will “never” achieve the highest honours in the sport.

Appearing on [Up Front with Simon Jordan](https://youtu.be/35Hs6CCYK20?si=0PrrvMEzhL9_RTNM&t=1458), former two-weight world champion, Billy Joe Saunders, claimed Eubank was simply “okay” and that his win over Smith was more down to the Liverpudlian taking his eye off the ball.

> “He’s just a very arrogant person, I couldn’t click with his personality.
>
> I have said it from day one, he \[Eubank\] will never be a world champion. I’ll tell you the reason why, because I’ve been in the ring with him.
>
> I know the difference between him your David Lemiuexs and Andy Lee’s, you can see why they’ve been world champions.
>
> I think he’s okay, but he’ll never be world champion. My initial thought of the first fight with Liam Smith was that Liam was on the ball, then I think he got a few quid, got a little bit comfortable and chucked himself in at the deep end when he shouldn’t have.”

[Eubank and Saunders locked horns in a British title fight back in 2013](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2283735-billy-joe-saunders-vs-chris-eubank-jr-winner-scorecard-and-twitter-reaction), in which the latter emerged with a close points victory – which ‘Next Gen’ disputes until this day.

[With ‘BJS’ plotting a return to the ring in the next couple of months](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/billy-joe-saunders-comeback-fights-left/), a long awaited rematch between the pair could be in the offing for 2024.
