Conah Walker continued his comeback trail with a 10th round knockout win over 45-fight veteran, Sam Eggington, at the Civil Hall in Wolverhampton, England on Saturday, May 2 and immediately made an epic call-out of Conor Benn.
The challenge is an interesting one because, as Walker notes, they “get on” in a friendly way but, considering the way in which Benn left Matchroom after its chairman, Eddie Hearn, risked his reputation advocating for the fighter during a controversial period — Benn’s failed drug tests — it would pit the new Zuffa Boxing star back against one of Hearn’s fighters.
Walker has lost three times in total but only once under Matchroom’s guidance, boxing his debut for the organization against Cyrus Pattinson in 2023, and scoring six wins in total for the Essex-based company, including four stoppages in a row.
“There’s one name that’s been called … Conor Benn,” Walker said at the beginning of his call-out.
“Listen, you proved it — there’s no friends in boxing. You and me get on. But if you think you’re the man in England, come and prove it, son.”

Benn left Matchroom for Zuffa Boxing earlier this year in a shocking one-fight deal worth a reported $15 million. The debut for the Las Vegas-based firm arrived in England, as the chief support for Tyson Fury’s comeback against Arslanbek Makhmudov, with the British slugger winning in relatively unimpressive fashion against an injured Regis Prograis.
Walker suggested he and Benn compete in another chief support but for an even bigger fight, arguably one of the biggest in British boxing history.
“AJ and Fury undercard, co-main event,” Walker said. “Come and prove it, big boy.”
