Conor Benn and Kell Brook touched down in Dublin for Katie Taylor’s homecoming bout against Chantelle Cameron – and they got into the fighting spirit themselves.
Both men have been out of the ring in recent times for very different reasons.
Benn was last out against Chris Van Heerden – round two TKO – in April of last year. He was of course due in with Chris Eubank Jr in October, but news of a failed doping test halted that and kickstarted the biggest British boxing scandal in recent memory.
Brook’s last bout was against Amir Khan in February 2022. The Sheffield man blasted his longtime rival out in six, and retired not long after the victory.
As Benn started discussing a return to the ring – even despite the British Boxing Board of Control looking to conduct a formal hearing and not getting very far – Brook made it known that he was looking to make a comeback.
The pair were linked for a fight this year, and the last heard on the matter was Brook heading into training. That was until they came face to face in Dublin.
During an interview, Brook acknowledged his potential rival walking by. Benn didn’t take kindly to whatever was said, and the pair had a push and a pull before being separated.

Benn has now cooperated with UKAD and the BBBofC, and is set for an official process. The timeline of that is being kept hushed, but it’s believed now that he and promoter, Eddie Hearn, will see that out before looking to fight overseas.
As for Brook, he said he would be ready for around September. It certainly looks like there’s a fight waiting for him.
