Conor Benn Calls Out Errol Spence Jr For Comeback Fight After Online Spat

After being cleared of any intentional wrongdoing by the WBC in his doping scandal, it seems that Conor Benn is set to return to the ring soon – and he has his sights set on the champion.

There have been rumours that the Brit may fight former eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, but instead Benn made a beeline for unified welterweight top dog, Errol Spence Jr.

Benn’s ruling has caused controversy in the boxing community after the WBC accepted an increased consumption of eggs as a reasonable explanation for the adverse findings in Benn’s doping tests.

Chris Eubank Jr, Derek Chisora and even Domino’s Pizza have cracked jokes after the ruling but Benn remains very serious about the matter as he continues his attempts to clear his name.

On social media, he targeted Errol Spence Jr, who has been fairly vocal since Benn’s suspension. ‘The Destroyer’ suggested that he would fight the unbeaten champion in his comeback fight, which proved the be the catalyst for a heated discussion.

“Errol Spence Jr you been talking to the most… and well I am reinstated in the WBC. I’ll have you next! You worry about handling your drink driving convictions. W**ker.”

After his ruling, Benn posted a picture of his middle finger onto his Instagram page with the caption “no lies told” – perhaps confirming that his response to his detractors will be to turn heel and play the role of the villain, as once recommended to him by Chris Eubank Jr.

Whilst the WBC result may have him back in their rankings, the British Boxing Board of Control have confirmed that their ruling will have no impact on whether or not Benn will be able to re-apply for a British Boxing Licence.

It means that the undefeated fighter will either need to co-operate with their investigation or face fighting overseas for the foreseeable.
