Chris Eubank Jr will enter a rematch with Liam Smith this weekend, and many believe his future in the sport hangs in the balance.
The Brighton man was stunned by a fourth round stoppage at the hands of Smith back in January having never touched the canvas before in his professional career.
In the aftermath, Eubank split with Roy Jones Jr and enlisted the services of trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ MacIntyre – best known for his stellar work in the corner of undisputed welterweight champion and pound-for-pound king, Terence Crawford.
In a story shared by napperfitness on Instagram, ‘Bud’ Crawford can be seen on a video call to Eubank giving him final words of advice ahead of fight night.
“Stay composed. Stay relaxed. You know how to fight. Just let it come to you – you ain’t gotta rush nothing. You more athletic. Use your athleticism. Fight behind the jab. Keep your hands up, just stay focused and you good.”
As far as words of wisdom go, there isn’t anybody better in boxing today to offer them.
The introduction of ‘BoMac’ to Eubank’s corner has certainly added a narrative to the rematch, but there are many who feel that a month’s work can do little to change a fighter.
Eubank has also been open in what else he will alter, and that includes how he reaches the weight of 160 safely.
He will hope that these tweaks, as well as the pro rounds with Smith, will contribute to revenge, but the man from Liverpool’s team are even more confident of victory this time around.
