Jason Cunningham (30-6, 6 KOs) will defend his European super-bantamweight title against mandatory challenger Terry Le Couviour (16-0, 2 KOs) in March, with a fight date expected to be confirmed this week.
Cunningham enjoyed a remarkable year in 2021, first overcoming the odds to to capture the EBU strap via unanimous decision against Gamal Yafai in May. The ‘Ice Man’ then added the British and Commonwealth belts to his collection with a win over Brad Foster in October.
The Doncaster man’s impressive performances earned him a promotional contract with Frank Warren.
Cunningham will likely find himself in the unusual position of being the bookmakers’ favourite when he faces Le Couviour. The unheralded Frenchman is yet to have fought an opponent of Cunningham’s calibre, with his best win to date coming in 2019, when beat Iuliano Gallo to capture the EBU-EU super-bantamweight title.
Southpaw Cunningham will be looking to impress once again, in the hope of furthering his dream of becoming a world champion.
