Dave Allen will meet Lucas Browne in the spring.
The former WBA ‘regular’ champion had been mentioned as a potential future foe for the Yorkshire heavyweight.
Allen, who was last in action in Manchester back in November, was targeted by the Australian as one of three British fighters on his hitlist for 2019.
And the fight was formally confirmed on Thursday when promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that terms had been agreed for a showdown between the pair in the coming months.
“[David Allen] will fight Lucas Browne in April in the [United Kingdom] – full details announced shortly,” Hearn tweeted.

Exactly when and where the fight will take place is still being sorted out, but it will land on a show airing live on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom and DAZN in the United States.
Browne, who has rebounded from last March’s knockout defeat at the hands of Dillian Whyte with two knockout wins of his own, had said that he would face Dave Allen on the scheduled April 13 card at Wembley Stadium, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office, as part of the supporting cast to what is supposed to be Anthony Joshua’s next defence of the WBA Super, IBF, IBO and WBO world heavyweight titles.
But it’s now looking more and more like the Olympic gold medallist will instead head Stateside to face Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller (23-0-1, 20 KOs) in June, leaving it open to debate when and where the fight will be.
Further details will be revealed in due course.
