# David Benavidez Keeps Incredible Punch Stat Record Alive With Andrade Win

David Benavidez is the name on the lips of every boxing fan at the moment, with his undeniable skill making him the standout threat to Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’ undisputed super-middleweight throne.

‘The Mexican Monster’ aims to become a three-time super-middleweight world champion, and has made his case this year with a decision win over Caleb Plant back in March followed up by [a captivating stoppage victory over Andrade.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/67536461)

Benavidez walked the two-division champion down with intense pressure and extreme precision, dominating ‘Boo Boo’ so much so that he withdrew from the bout on his stool between the sixth and seventh despite having a strong start in the opening rounds.

Despite a step-up in opposition, the punch stats show the 26-year-old’s entertaining fight style still carries its clear advantages.

As Benavidez began to find success, he pressed onto the proverbial accelerator and scored with an outrageous seventy-eight combined punches through rounds five and six, landing with almost fifty percent accuracy in each.

> As expected, Benavidez got his engine warmed in round 4, as he out landed Andrade 96-36 over last 3 rounds. 91 of those connects were power shots. Benavidez landed 20 punches per round. Andrade's previous 10 opponents landed just 5.4 punches per round.
