An up-and-coming super middleweight prospect called Daniel ‘Ice Man’ Blancas will fight Raul Salomon in a 10-round bout, with two other fights also added, to complete the David Benavidez vs Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez fight card on May 2 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, airing on Prime Video.
Blancas, at 24 years old and 6-foot-3, has already built a pro record of 14-0 (7 KOs), and is due a step-up after passing every test he’s faced so far, entering the marquee boxing event on hot form with two back-to-back knockout wins.
A stablemate of Benavidez’s, Blancas fights Salomon, a teak tough Mexican, who is “eager to show everyone” his skills by taking down the favored Blancas.
“I can’t wait to give the fans an exciting fight,” Blancas added, in statements sent to Boxing Social.
The Blancas and Salomon fight caps a three-fight mini event that kickstarts the big show, airing at 5.30 p.m. ET / 2.30 p.m. PT. The two other bouts on the FIRST ON PRIME prelims are Juan Carrillo and Marlo Delgado at light heavyweight, and Dylan Capetillo — still a teenager — against a to-be-determined opponent.
“Marlo Delgado is a tough fighter, and I respect anybody who steps in the ring, but I see openings in his style that I’m gonna take advantage of,” Carrillo said of his fellow former Olympian.
“I’m coming into this fight with a chip on my shoulder and ready to fight like everything is on the line, because it is. Fans can expect action. I’m not here to coast. I’m here to dominate and make it clear I’m a problem in this division.”
Said Delgado: “I’m extremely motivated to show what I’m capable of on May 2.
“This is the kind of opportunity I need to prove that I’m ready for the next level. This is going to be a really exciting fight between two Olympians who want to be world champion. I can’t wait to work my hardest to steal the show.”
Other fights on the card include:
- Ramirez vs Benavidez
- Resendiz vs Munguia
- Lucero vs Flores
- Duarte vs Barrera
