After last night’s scenes at the OVO Arena, David Haye has weighed in with a prediction for a potential clash between KSI and Tommy Fury.
The two young Brits faced off in the ring following ‘The Nightmare’s controversial win over Joe Fournier and, as is typical at crossover boxing events, got involved a bit of pushing and shoving.
And former heavyweight world champion Haye admits he’d favour KSI to get the better of Fury, and that he was impressed by the 29-year-old’s showing on Saturday night.
However, as an old friend of Fournier, ‘The Hayemaker’ couldn’t resist having a sly dig regarding the elbow that caused the contest to end when being interview by IFL TV.
“I think he [KSI] beats Tommy Fury. And if he’s allowed elbows as well, for sure!”
“Even without the elbows, I think he definitely beats Tommy Fury. With his timing and rhythm, I was really impressed.”
Haye doesn’t have the best record when predicting members of the Fury family’s fights, having backed against old rival Tyson in all three of his fights with Deontay Wilder and that against Dillian Whyte
Despite appearing to be hard done by and claiming he will appealing the ruling, Fournier is unlikely to get another crack at KSI, who appears to be looking towards a showdown with Fury in the second half of 2023.
The younger brother of the WBC heavyweight world champion, ‘TNT’ has already got the better of one big name in the crossover boxing world when he outpointed Jake Paul in Saudi Arabia in February of this year.
And, given the scenes that ensued in the ring last night, it would be surprising if an all British affair between Fury and KSI was not to happen next.
