# David Lemieux Goes From Fan Favourite To Least Favourite After Post Fight Comments – “He Was On The Run”

Unlike the WBO World middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders, challenger David Lemieux did not put on a spectacular performance in front of his hometown fans.

Far from it.

For twelve rounds Lemieux struggled to score points and land with his hooks. It was a hit and miss for the Canadian through and through.

Lemieux could have saved face in his post-fight interview but instead opted to accuse Saunders of running away from him.

“He was on the run. He was running away from the first round until the end. I guess that’s his strategy to run away from fighters instead of fighting,” commented Lemieux post-fight.

The backlash was imminent.

> Very bad way for David Lemieux to go out in his post fight interview. Lemieux blamed his left hand from round 2 on and basically said “Saunders ran, if that’s how he chooses to win then great” knowing he was dominated. > David Lemieux, who just lost every single round of a championship boxing match in front of his hometown crowd, wants you to know that the other guy should be embarrassed of the way he fought tonight. [#SaundersLemieux](https://twitter.com/hashtag/SaundersLemieux?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

> Thought that was a pretty delusional, graceless interview by Lemieux after the fight. No, dude, [@bjsaunders\_](https://twitter.com/bjsaunders_?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) didn't run, he gave you a boxing lesson AND a beating. SMH!
