Retired British heavyweight, David Price, has made his prediction for a potential fight between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou.
This is a fight that has suddenly got people interested after former MMA fighter turned boxing debutant Ngannou managed to turn in a hugely impressive performance against WBC champion Tyson Fury in Riyadh.
Despite securing a solid knockdown in the third round, Ngannou lost a tight split decision after 10 competitive rounds and is now being called out by the top names in the division having managed to outstrip Fury in power shots, 37-32, throughout the fight.
For his part, Fury is contracted to fight Oleksandr Usyk for a much anticipated undisputed showdown. The fight was expected to be announced for December 23rd but because of the damage Fury took it has now been pushed back to an unspecified date in 2024.
Speaking to Boxing News, former heavyweight contender Price was asked how he saw a fight between former two-time unified champion Joshua and Cameroonian-Frenchman Ngannou might pan out.
“I think Anthony Joshua would knock him out. I think he would. Styles make fights.
He has the benefit of having seen Ngannou in the ring with Tyson Fury so knows what to expect and knows how to take it seriously so knows what the upside would be of knocking him out. Tyson Fury had everything to lose and nothing to gain last night and he did lose everything in a way. But now Joshua has everything to gain, it’s all gone right for him.”
