Gervonta Davis has promised to give the outspoken Rolando Romero a beating he won’t forget when they meet at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on December 5.
Baltimore puncher Davis (25-0, 24 KOs) will defend his WBA Regular lightweight championship on the Showtime PPV event against fellow Mayweather Promotions fighter Romero, who has effectively talked his way into the confrontation.
“I can’t wait to be back fighting in Los Angeles and give my fans another memorable night,” said the heavy-handed Davis. “Romero is going to be sorry that he signed this contract. I’m going to punish him for as long as this fight lasts.
“Everyone knows I’m coming for the knockout, so make sure you get a ticket or buy the pay-per-view. Los Angeles is where the stars shine and I’m going to be ready to put on a show on December 5 in front of all the stars.”
Las Vegas 135-pounder Romero (14-0, 12 KOs) foresees a different outcome. “I’m so grateful for this opportunity,” said the challenger. “I’m going to become a pay-per-view star quicker than anyone else in the sport starting December 5.
“I’ve accomplished more than almost anyone else with the number of fights I have, and there’s a whole lot more to come. Thank you to my whole team for putting me in this position. See you December 5!”
