Promoter Oscar De La Hoya is considering taking his entire stable of Golden Boy Promotions fighters – including star boxer Ryan Garcia – from DAZN to upstart entertainment app Triller.
According to The Athletic’s Mike Coppinger, De La Hoya has been hugely impressed with Triller’s breakthrough into boxing that started with ex-heavyweight king Mike Tyson’s high-profile exhibition bout against four-weight champion Roy Jones last November and continued with YouTuber Jake Paul’s one round KO of former UFC fighter Ben Askren last month.
Golden Boy’s deal with global streaming vehicle DAZN expires at the end of 2021 and promoter De La Hoya says he is locked in early negotiations to move his fighters en masse to Triller.
“From my personal experience with Triller and watching the numbers they have put up in just their two shows, I’ve been extremely impressed,” De La Hoya told Coppinger.
“We are engaged in conversations with executives at Triller and will see where they land.”
