Responding to questions about the importance of 2018 in the widescale story of James DeGale at today’s final press conference for this weekend’s fight.
‘Chunky’ assertively began by explaining “First thing first, I got to get through Traux first.”
“But next year, I do want the winner of the World Boxing Super Series.”
Responding to questions on the topic of who he thinks will come out victorious in the WBSS. DeGale shared when it was first announced that he favoured Callum Smith.

But DeGale shared he is not so confident after seeing Smith struggle while claiming a unanimous decision verdict, in his favour against Erik Skoglund. He has now shared he is not too sure who will come out on top.
“When it first got announced, I thought Smith. I fancied Smith”
“But after seeing him against that Norwegian guy or Swedish guy, I’m not too sure. It is a pick em (fight)” DeGale added.
DeGale did share his preference would be to see Groves, come out on top so that they can set up a mammoth domestic clash and rematch to their ongoing saga.
“I’m hoping Groves, for the rematch,” DeGale shared when touching on his preference for a victor in the WBSS.
“But I’m easy, Eubank, me, whoever;”
Touching on if his prior loss to George Groves still irks him, DeGale scoffed at those suggestions.
“Not really, I was champ before him.”
“I went on and achieved a lot, earned a lot of money. I am sweet and that kills him” ‘Chunky’ added.
“That hurts him, trust me. I’m the champ and the recognised number one”
“That kills him. I’m happy, If I don’t fight George Groves ever again I’ll be happy.”
However, the reigning IBF super middleweight world champion added, “Going forward, It is a fight I would like for the fans,” DeGale concluded.
