IBF world super-middleweight champion, James DeGale has weighed in on the WBSS February semi-final which will grip his home-nation in February. The matchup I am talking about, of course, is George Groves vs Chris Eubank Jr.
“I think Groves wins,” he exclusively told Sky Sports.
“It’s a good competitive fight but I think Groves wins, because of his experience and he’s a massive super-middleweight.”
“I think we’ll see him winning the first six rounds fairly easily, I think Eubank will come into the fight but I think Groves wins it on points.”

DeGale shared that his preference would be to see Groves come out on top so that they can put on the second instalment of their ongoing saga. “I’m not that fussed but I’d like Groves to win because that sets up a huge fight between me and him at the end of next year.”
“We’ve both got world titles now. We’ve both got some good wins under our belt and I am the recognised No 1 and a lot of people still say he’s the No 1, so I hope he wins and we can get that fight next year,” DeGale added.

DeGale is scheduled to next be in the ring on December 9th in a co-feature with Lee Selby.
He will face the American native, Caleb Traux who currently boasts a record of 28-3-2. The bout will take place at London’s Copper Box Arena.
“If – or when – I get past Truax and look good, next year is a big year for me,” he said.
Furthermore, DeGale shared that whatever the outcome in the World Boxing Super Series. Regardless, there will be a lucrative series of matches to be made.
“I think the loser [of Groves-Eubank Jr] will still get big fights out there and we could really set up just a British series because we have so many good super-middleweights. There is Callum Smith out there as well, of course, and it is such a strong division over here.”
