Deji’s Showboating Winds Up Floyd Mayweather Before Stoppage

British YouTuber Deji Olatunji went up against one of the all time greats in Floyd Mayweather last weekend in a six-round exhibition bout.

The Dubai show received plenty of criticism after drama surrounding the build-up, with Tommy Fury and Anthony Taylor dominating the headlines for separate reasons.

Just like fight week, the main event also had its fair share of controversies. There was a long delay as Mayweather refused to enter the ring in front of Jake Paul, who was ringside having commentated on Tommy Fury’s fight prior.

Then, during the fight itself, Mayweather showboated throughout as he toyed with his inferior opponent.

However, Deji wasn’t afraid to show his own confidence and refused to be intimidated by the antics of ‘The Best Ever’. The 25-year-old YouTuber had the energy and confidence to do push-ups in the corner between rounds.

Unfortunately for Olatunji, it seemed to provoke Mayweather, who came out for the following sixth round with a newfound determination and got the stoppage to halt any aspirations of an upset.

Levels were shown, as they have been in most if not all of Mayweather’s outings since he officially hung up the gloves and – in his own words – started chasing currency over legacy. Whilst Deji wasn’t covered in glory in the aftermath, the young man joined the money train for an evening and even managed to leave a mark on Floyd.

It’s unclear if Mayweather will continue on the exhibition circuit, but if he does we can expect some more showboating from all involved.
