Two weight world champion Demetrius Andrade has weighed in with a prediction for the upcoming clash between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Jermell Charlo.
On September 30th, Alvarez will put his undisputed super middleweight crown on the line against Charlo, also a reigning four belt champion, who will jump up two weight classes from super welterweight for by far the biggest test of his career thus far.
And in a recent interview with FightHype, Andrade explained why believes it is a challenge that will simply prove too great for ‘Iron Man’ at the T-Mobile Arena.
“I’m not saying Jermell will be a walkover or nothing. But when you look at the Castano kid who gave him a hard time and he needed two fights. Canelo’s got way more power, way more experience, has got great defence and is getting better with some of his movements.
Charlo is not the most athletic fighter out there, he’s a straight up guy. Canelo’s been working on his movements and he knows how to counter well.
So I don’t think it’s going to be too difficult for Canelo to get the W. But my hat goes off to both guys for making it happen.”
Andrade, like ‘Canelo,’ signed with Al Haymon’s PBC not so long ago, so will be perhaps be hoping the Mexican gets the better of Charlo so he can get a crack at him for himself.
Most agree that Alvarez is a significant favourite going into the fight, and envisage that he will be too physically strong for Charlo.
