Denzel Bentley will return to the ring next month.
The British middleweight champion will defend his title in London on September 16.
Bentley regained the title with a victory over Linus Udofia back in May, having lost it after being stopped by Felix Cash back in April 2021.
But the Battersea man (16-1-1, 13 KOs) got back on the horse with a win over Sam Evans, stopping him in the third round, before outpointing the previously-undefeated Udofia at the Indigo at the O2 in Greenwich.
Now, the 27-year-old orthodox puncher takes on Marcus Morrison at the famous York Hall in Bethnal Green, exclusively live on BT Sport.
Morrison (24-5, 16 KOs) is back at middleweight after trying his luck at 168lbs in a challenge for the WBO International title held by Zach Parker last November.
Morrison’s career reignited with the stunning knockout of former Billy Joe Saunders opponent Emanuele Blandamura in 2019 to win the WBC International Silver title and, two wins later, he accepted the challenge of taking on Chris Eubank Jr — who meets Conor Benn in a mouthwatering catchweight contest on October 8 at the O2 Arena, exclusively live on DAZN worldwide and DAZN Pay-Per-View in the UK and Ireland – and was defeated on points over 10 rounds.
And promoter Frank Warren is excited about the show that will come in the week before the big heavyweight showdown between Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker at the AO Arena in Manchester on September 24, exclusively live on BT Sport Box Office.
Warren, who recently saw his charge Tyson Fury relinquish the Ring Magazine title in the wake of his latest supposed retirement, said in a press release:
“Denzel Bentley defending his British middleweight title against a dangerous challenger in Marcus Morrison is a proper York Hall scrap where entertainment is guaranteed.
“Denzel’s stock is on the up again and we were all proud of the way he reclaimed his belt against a good unbeaten opponent as the away fighter.”
Andrew Cain, the vicious Liverpudlian who has stopped all but one of his 10 opponents to date, will be back in the ring on the undercard, defending his WBC International Silver title at super-bantamweight, while former Boxxer tournament winner Ellis Zorro makes his debut under the Queensberry banner as he looks to move to 15 fights undefeated against new cruiserweight Dec Spelman, the former English light-heavyweight champion who has a record of 18-5 with nine quick finishes.
Royston Barney-Smith, Willy Hutchison and Hackney super-featherweight Frank Arnold will box on the bill alongside Adan Mohamed, Khalid Ali, Arnold Obodai and debut-making middleweight Joel Kodua.
