Deontay Wilder Launches Explicit Verbal Tirade at Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn

WBC World heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (40-0-0, 39 KO’s) has unloaded on Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, following the news that Anthony Joshua has been ordered to face WBA mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin; thus ending negotiations for a proposed undisputed heavyweight title showdown.

After Showtime analyst Brendan Schaub tweeted that Wilder had essentially been ducked by the WBA/IBF/WBO belt-holder, Wilder himself was slightly less coy in response.

With a an explosive, explicit-laden series of tweets, ‘The Bronze Bower’ lashed out after the breakdown in talks between the two camps.

Eddie Hearn, who has drawn ire from some sections of the boxing fraternity after being perceived to be delaying the bout, denied Wilder had signed for the fight. Further stating Team Wilder did not respond with any comments to their offer.

Schaub would respond by claiming Wilder agreed to each of the required stipulations, which drew rebuttal from Hearn – causing Wilder to turn his attention to the promoter.

Wilder finished his interaction with Hearn by stating that he “will have the last laugh”, labelling the British camp as “cowards”.

Finally, Wilder opened fire on Anthony Joshua, with another verbal assault. Claiming – among other things – that Joshua was “not a true champion” and “weak minded”.

After a volatile ending to negotiations between the camps, it is unclear as to the relationship for any such deal in the future. One thing is for certain, however, the bout will not be happening next: much to the chagrin of boxing fans worldwide.
