Deontay Wilder and Eddie Hearn have buried any ill-feelings in the hope of making an Anthony Joshua fight in the near-future.
The promoter and former heavyweight world champion have had a rocky relationship for some years now, with Wilder in particular having some choice words for Hearn.
In fact, recently the Alabama native hinted that it was Hearn who was blocking the ‘AJ’ fight despite public attempts to make it happen.
The feud has been the undercurrent of long and frustrating talks to stage the heavyweight contest that sits close to the top of the wish lists of most fans. At one stage, the transatlantic clash could have fought for the undisputed title, but will now most likely play out with no belts on the line.
The two are set to appear on the same card on December 23, Wilder facing Joseph Parker and Joshua taking on Otto Wallin. Should they both win, fight talks are expected to ramp up significantly.
The American knockout artist confirmed as much by posting a picture with Hearn, alongside the caption that the fights next month are the only things standing in the way.
“Damn, this is wilder than Wilder. If you know the history then you know what’s understood don’t have to be explained. I will title this picture “Old Endings For A New Beginning.“ Finally, the boxing fans will get what they’ve been waiting YEARS for. The only thing that stands in the way now is Dec 23rd.”

Fans will have a keen eye on how the two former champions fare in Riyadh – the expected host city of their own fight down the line.
Wilder has now fought just one round in two years, so will welcome the Parker bout as a chance to get rid of any ring rust.
