Deontay Wilder says he is ready for war. This time, it comes against Derek Chisora. The long-awaited heavyweight clash finally takes place this weekend.
The fight, set for tomorrow, will unfold at The O2 Arena. Both men bring experience, power, and pride into the ring.
This matchup has been years in the making. Originally, the two were set to fight in June 2013. That bout was planned for Wembley Arena in London. However, legal issues stopped the fight from being finalized. At the time, Wilder was aligned with Golden Boy Promotions. Now, more than a decade later, they finally meet.
Deontay Wilder expects nothing less than chaos. He spoke about the fight with Brunch Boxing and made his mindset clear. He believes both fighters will bring intensity from the opening bell.

“He calls himself war for a reason,” Wilder said. “Every time he gets in the ring, it’s going to be a war.”
At the same time, Wilder pointed to his own strengths. He highlighted his power and his ability to end fights at any moment. According to him, this clash will not need the judges.
“With me, I bring excitement and power,” he said. “I would be surprised if this fight goes the distance. It’s going to be a knockout.”
He also stressed the danger both men carry. One punch can change everything in the heavyweight division.
“You just never know when one lands,” Wilder said. “And what comes after that.”
Even so, he kept a respectful tone. He understands what is at stake and what Chisora brings.
“May the best man win,” Wilder added.
Meanwhile, Chisora enters the fight in strong form. He rides a three-fight winning streak. Those victories came against Otto Wallin, Joe Joyce, and Gerald Washington. His recent run has restored confidence and momentum.
On the other hand, Wilder has faced mixed results. He has gone 2–3 in his last five fights. Still, he secured a win in his most recent outing. He defeated Tyrell Anthony Herndon to steady his path.
In addition, Wilder made a key change in his corner. He appointed Don House as head trainer. House replaced Malik Scott in that role. Despite the change, Wilder and Scott remain close.
Wilder credited Scott for helping him through a tough period. He called him a brother and praised his support. However, House now leads the training team. The veteran coach has worked with more than 28 champions across boxing and MMA.
As a result, Wilder feels refreshed and focused. His power remains his biggest weapon. Still, critics have questioned his consistency in recent years.

Wilder does not shy away from those concerns. Instead, he leans into the matchup. He believes the styles will produce fireworks.
“With his style and my style, it’s only made for destruction,” Wilder said.
In the end, both fighters promise action. Two veterans will collide with pride on the line. For Deontay Wilder, the goal stays simple. He wants to end the night with a statement.
Wilder also made one final, ominous prediction. He expects a violent ending that fans will remember.
“I’m looking forward to a devastating knockout,” he said.
