Deontay Wilder has given his reaction to Gervonta Davis’ win over Ryan Garcia, and has called for the pair to do it all over again.
Davis stopped Garcia in the seventh round at the T-Mobile Arena, with a crippling body shot proving to be just too much for ‘King Ry’ to recover from.
And Wilder, who was sat ringside, told Boxing Social that he was let slightly unsatisfied by the conclusion, and would love to see a rematch as the action was just hotting up.
“It was a good fight, but it was a bit of a teaser – we want more!
We want to see a rematch as soon as possible.”
The build up to the fight generated huge excitement on both sides of the Atlantic, and blockbuster numbers are expected from both pay per view sales and the live gate.
After a cagey opening, Garcia started the second round like a man possessed, but found himself on the end of a trademark Davis left hand that knocked him down and changed the course of the fight.
Though he made to his feet, it was clear Garcia was wary of Davis’ power from that point and ‘Tank’ began to assert his dominance over the next few rounds.
Garcia regained somewhat of a foothold in the fight in the sixth round, having pockets of success that had proved rare up until that stage.
However, a sweet left to the body from Davis in the seventh brought the contest to a close.
Garcia seemed to have a delayed reaction to the shot and took a knee a few seconds after it connected, and could only watch on as referee Thomas Taylor counted him out in the biggest fight of his life.
