# Deontay Wilder Reveals Potential U-Turn In Fight Plans: “So Be It!”

Deontay Wilder has stated repeatedly over the past few months that he will have two fights in the second half of 2023, one of which would be a barnstormer against [Anthony Joshua in December](https://metro.co.uk/2023/07/01/deontay-wilder-confirms-anthony-joshua-fight-definitely-going-down-19050436/).

However, Wilder appears to now be reconciled to the fact that he may have to jumps straight into a Saudi showdown with ‘AJ,’ despite not having boxed since October last year.

In a recent interview with [78SportsTV](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LctlsLVaRPE&t=1314s), ‘The Bronze Bomber’ stated that he is content whether a fight materialises for him in the coming weeks or not.

> “I’m still looking to fight, but if a situation comes about where I have to sit out, then so be it! I’ve built myself to the point where I can either take opportunities or sit out, and not have to worry about money.
>
> Everything I have, I own! We’ve got some things lined up, everything is lined up. So I can sit and rest and do what I do, I can chill. I paid the cost to be the boss, and I’m living my life the way I want.”

Talks have taken place this summer for Wilder to take on Andy Ruiz Jr, however these appeared to have reached an impasse due to a [disagreement regarding the purse split.](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/deontay-wilder-liar-andy-ruiz-camp-hit-back/)

It does look to be all systems go for Wilder vs Joshua, however, with promoter Eddie Hearn claiming this weekend that a deal has been agreed in principle for the mammoth fight to take place in Saudi Arabia.

Though perhaps a touch overdue, the cross Atlantic dust up could be just the remedy to the stagnation that has began to set in across the blue ribbon division.
