Derek Chisora has weighed in with his assessment of Jake Paul’s chances in a potential rematch with Tommy Fury.
Fury survived a late knockdown and a point deduction last weekend to edge out a split decision win over Paul, who was also docked a point by referee Hector Afu.
And despite the contest being close on the three ringside judges’ scorecards, Chisora didn’t seem to give Paul much hope of reversing the outcome.
When asked by SecondsOut if the American had any chance in the rematch, Chisora said:
“So far, no I don’t think so.”
Despite Chisora’s lack of faith in him, ‘The Problem Child’ has stated in numerous post fight interviews that he intends to activate the contractual rematch clause to get another shot at Fury and avenge the only loss of his professional boxing journey to date.
With last weekends event at the Diriyah Arena being by far the biggest payday of ‘TNT’s career thus far, it is perhaps unsurprising that he has welcomed Paul’s call for a rematch.
Fury’s payday for a second clash with Paul would no doubt vastly trump the reported $2.5 million purse he received for their first fight.
Other than the rematch, the former Love Island star has been linked to a fight with UK YouTuber KSI, as well as one with Paul’s big brother Logan.
Known as ‘The Maverick,’ he called for the chance to get revenge for his younger sibling and admitted that he wanted to ‘kill’ Fury.
Whatever route Fury goes down, it certainly appears the more lucrative options for him exist in the crossover boxing space.
