Heavyweight veteran, Derek Chisora, enjoys a solid relationship with the boxing businessmen in Saudi Arabia, but won’t be appearing on the blockbuster December 23 card, despite an offer to do so.
Chisora bounced back from defeat to Tyson Fury with a points win over Gerald Washington back in August, and ever since he has been linked to fights in Saudi Arabia against the likes of Francis Ngannou and Alen Babic, due to his partnership with the now defunct, Skill Challenges Promotions.
In an interview with DAZN, ‘Del Boy’ confirmed that he had received an offer to face Jarrell Miller on the undercard of the recently announced ‘Day of Reckoning’ show, but explained why he turned it down.
“Hand on my heart, they offered me the fight and we spoke numbers, they came up with an offer and decided it was their final offer. They said ‘if you do not take it, we are going to give it to Daniel Dubois’ and I was like ‘you know what, go ahead, give it to him’. That is why Daniel is in here.”
“I don’t cry over spilt milk, I don’t regret, that’s why I am here to support. I am not trying to talk bad about the card, it is an amazing card.”
“I turned it down because the numbers were not right, it was back and forth and stuff like that.”
Instead, Daniel Dubois will step up to the plate and challenge the controversial American in one of many main-event worthy bouts on the bill, which also features Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, Dmitry Bivol and Jai Opetaia.
