Oleksandr Usyk will make his second defense of his WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles against Daniel Dubois in Poland tonight and former foe Derek Chisora has made a bold prediction ahead of the clash.
Usyk faced Chisora in just his second fight after making the move up from cruiserweight, where he was the undisputed champion. Usyk won the bout by unanimous decision in a close fought affair, but recently claimed that he made it look harder against ‘Del Boy’ in order to lure Anthony Joshua into a title fight.
Speaking to Boxing King Media, Chisora reacted to those comments from the Ukrainian declaring he should have won the fight.
“I don’t know [what to make of those comments] because when we left the ring the whole Usyk team said that I won the fight, even he knew I won the fight and then they gave it to him, but it’s okay, we don’t mind.”
Asked for a prediction for the fight, although he didn’t pick a winner Derek is sure of one thing – a knockout.
“Somebody is getting knocked out.”
Many inside boxing aren’t giving the young Brit much more than a puncher’s chance against the masterful two division champion. But the 25 year-old will have belief in his power, having scored 18 knockouts in his 19 wins, whilst suffering his sole defeat to Joe Joyce back in 2020.
There is no rematch clause as Dubois is a mandatory challenger so the winner will be free to defend his titles against a new challenger, with IBF number 1 ranked fighter, Filip Hrgovic, next in line but fans will hoping a Tyson Fury undisputed clash can finally be made.
Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois takes place on the 26 August at the Tarczynski Arena in Poland and will be broadcast live on TNT Sports pay-per-view in the UK.
