Devin Haney had some choice words for Gervonta Davis recently, accusing him of not having any desire to fight meaningful opponents.
In footage recorded by SecondsOut, Haney says the proof is in the pudding when it comes to who ‘Tank’ really wants to fight, and was quick to cite the difference between Davis’ resume and his own.
“I don’t think that Tank wants to fight me – or anybody else. If you look at his record he’s fought pretty much nobody.
How old is he? 27? He’s 27 and my resume is better than his and I’m the undisputed champion.
I don’t feel like he really wants to fight anybody – and it’s obvious.”
Davis has been repeatedly linked to a mega fight with fellow American Ryan Garcia, with the two regularly getting involved in back and forth social media exchanges. As of yet however, the two camps have been unable to come to an agreement and secure an actual fight date.
Baltimore native Davis has a big fight on his hands outside of the ring coming up, when a judge rejected his lawyers’ request for a plea deal regarding an alleged hit and run incident, meaning the three-weight world champion will have to stand trial. If found guilty, Davis could face time behind bars.
As for Devin Haney, he will face George Kambosos Jr for a second time on October 15th, this time as defending undisputed champion. If he is able to best the Austrailian again, a meeting with Ukranian legend Vasiliy Lomachenko is said to be earmarked for early 2023.
