Devin Haney moves up in a division to challenge for Regis Prograis’ WBC Super-Lightweight World Title this weekend, and fans are glad to see him make weight in a more comfortable manner.
The 25-year-old became undisputed down at 135 with a win over George Kambosos Jr, before defending the four belts in a rematch and then against Ukrainian great, Vasily Lomachenko.
Haney would look increasingly drained at the weigh-ins for those bouts and always hinted that a move up wasn’t far away. After beating ‘Loma’ on points, he did just that.
So far he has vacated the WBC belt – now held by Shakur Stevenson – and intends to drop the rest.
For his maiden 140 voyage, Haney came in on the limit whilst Prograis was a touch under at 139. As many posts on social media voiced, the formerly undisputed lightweight champion looks much healthier on the scales in this new division.

‘Clear cut difference,’ one fan said, and others agreed that his physique looked impressive without being drained, as it often did down at 135.
Despite the extra five pounds, some had an eye on the welterweight limit of 147 already, a destination Haney has confirmed he expects to land at in the future. In fact, a couple of viewers said even now Haney looks like he struggled with the cut.
Before any of that can be considered, Prograis awaits – and he’s fired up. The pair stared each other down for over three minutes, with the champion getting notably heated and a more composed Haney repeating ‘it’s my belt, it’s my belt.’
