Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia had their launch press conference in New York on Tuesday and the first face-off between the pair was as fiery as expected.
Haney defends his WBC super-lightweight title against Garcia at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 20, live on DAZN.
The pair have embarked on a press tour to begin the promotion of the fight, with all eyes in NYC for the first press conference, which featured plenty of bad blood and a heated face-off.
Garcia lived up to his ‘King Ry’ nickname, as he sat on a golden throne during the presser, and he was the first to speak out of the two fighters.
“This is a big opportunity for me. I want to go for legacy and belts, Devin is in the way and I’m on my vengeance arc. I’m coming straight for his neck I promise you that.”
Haney then hit back at his opponent, believing that it will be a similar outcome to when Garcia fought Gervonta Davis last year.
“This is going to be a hell of an event. We’ve seen Ryan quit before and take a knee before. On April 20th it will be no different. DAZN have put the bounty up, and on April 20th I’m capturing the bounty and coming home with the victory.”
The fighters then went head-to-head in the face-off where the war of words continued further.
