Dillian Whyte surprised many boxing fans when he revealed who had been helping him prepare for his comeback fight against Jermaine Franklin on November 26th.
A post on Whyte’s official Instragram shows ‘The Bodysnatcher’ with Gerald Washington – who he had been sparring – as well as former UK heavyweight Audley Harrison and Deontay Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott.
Given the long-term beef between Whyte and Wilder, Scott is not a man many anticipated to feature on the Brixton resident’s social media. Scott is also Gerald Washington’s trainer, so perhaps there is little to read into the post.
Still, it would be interesting to see Deontay Wilder’s reaction to his trainer smiling for a photo with a man who called him a “crackhead” in the not-too-distant past.
Whyte will be looking to show he still has a role to play at the top end of the heavyweight division on November 26th by being the first man to defeat the 21-0 Jermaine Franklin.
Though undefeated, there aren’t too many familiar names on the American’s record and he is considered a bit of an unknown quantity by those in the trade.
Despite a stoppage defeat to Tyson Fury last time out, Whyte goes into the Franklin fight a considerable bookmakers’ favourite is expected by most pundits to emerge with a much-needed win.
