Highly touted rising UK boxer Ohara Davies went through his first ever setback this past weekend in Glasgow.
Defending Commonwealth super lightweight champion Josh Taylor stopped Davies in the seventh round and also snatched his WBC Silver super lightweight title during the process.
After an evenly matched open round, Taylor took control of the fight and kept the pressure on Davies. The Londoner managed to fight back with volume punches but the sharper Taylor landed the bigger shots. In the seventh round, the Scot dropped Davies the second time and the referee stepped in.
Taylor is now 10-0 and with nine wins coming via stoppage.
In London, the Copper Box Arena witnessed another devastating stoppage win from young heavyweight prospect Daniel Dubois.
‘Triple D’ fought last minute replacement Mauricio Barragan in a fight that was a total mismatch.
The massive Dubois towered his opponent and punished him with big shots. Barragan was overwhelmed with the power of Dubois and eventually went down in the second round after a big body shot.
Dubois now has four straight big knockout victories. He also won the vacant WBC Youth World heavyweight title with his latest win.
