Eddie Hearn has announced three new signings for Matchroom Boxing.
The promoter already boasts working with the likes of Anthony Joshua and Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez, and is keen to expand his stable in the wake of his broadcast deal with DAZN and fresh pressure from rival companies like Queensberry and BOXXER.
In a press conference ahead of the Joshua versus Jermaine Franklin weigh-in, Hearn announced the signings of Jack Catterall and Shannon Ryan, with Sunny Edwards to be announced during the weight-in itself.
Jack Catterall
Super lightweight Catterall (26-1, 13 KOs) is the man many feel should be undisputed champion in the division – that includes Hearn, who introduced him as such. The man from Chorley was involved in some of the most controversial scoring of recent memory when reigning champion, Josh Taylor, took their fight by decision in Glasgow.
Catterall signed with BOXXER and Sky Sports in August of 2022, but has now moved on in the wake of the Taylor rematch being cancelled and the champion moving on to Teofimo Lopez. Catterall will be out on May 27 for his Matchroom debut.
Sunny Edwards
Edwards (19-0, 4 KOs) has held the IBF flyweight title since his unanimous decision victory over Moruti Mthalane in April of 2021.

The outspoken young star has been keen to put his slick skills on show in a unification bout, and Hearn may just be able to deliver that against WBC champ, Julio Cesar Martinez, or WBO challenger, Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez. The promoter said he might just be ‘the best flyweight in the world.’
Shannon Ryan
Hearn said that when he heard Shannon Ryan had signed with Sky Sports and BOXXER he ‘wasn’t very happy’ – especially given she was represented by Anthony Joshua’s 258 Management.
