Eddie Hearn has revealed he has been on the receiving end of a legal letter, this time from a broadcaster whom he used to work with directly.
Matchroom had an exclusive partnership with Sky for the best part of a decade, however left in 2021 and is now affiliated with streaming giant DAZN.
In a recent interview with Boxing Social, Hearn explained his former partners had sent him a legal letter regarding comments he made about Chris Eubank Jr fighting Conor Benn instead of Liam Smith – which he quickly doubled down on.
“I know Sky were disappointed and I think they sent another legal letter about my comments about Chris Eubank against Conor Benn. Unbelievable, it’s pathetic.
I don’t care, it’s boring. He lost the first fight, no one wants to see the rematch. What we want to see is Conor Benn against Chris Eubank.
I don’t know the contractual situation, is that possible? Not a question for me. But who cares about Liam Smith against Chris Eubank.
Let’s make Conor Benn against Chris Eubank – it’s massive.”
The rematch between Eubank Jr and Smith, which was due to take place on July 1st, was postponed last week and there has been no update as of yet whether or not it will be rescheduled.
Despite being incessantly linked to big fights, Benn is currently provisionally suspended and awaiting a hearing with UKAD to determine the future of his career and whether or not he will be forced to serve a ban following the positive tests for Clomiphene and the subsequent information he has gathered in an attempt to clear his name.
As well as the revisiting of a date with Eubank, ‘The Destroyer’ has also been linked to a fight with former welterweight world champion Kell Brook, with whom he got involved with a scuffle at the Katie Taylor vs Chantelle Cameron fight in Dublin.
