Eddie Hearn has spoken out about this past weekend’s clash between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury, and admitted he was less than impressed by both men.
Fury edged out Paul to win a split decision win at the Diriyah Arena, surviving a final round knockdown in the process.
And on the DAZN Boxing Show, Hearn said that he believes the right man won, but that neither Fury nor Paul are “very good.”
“He’s got a decent jab, he’s tough, but he’s just not very good – neither of them are.”
“Tommy Fury is also not very good at all. What you had, was two not very good fighters who are quite evenly matched.”
“I gave Tommy most of the rounds, obviously the knockdown made it quite interesting. But I thought, give Jake his due, he had a go.”
In numerous post fight interviews, Paul stated his desire to activate a rematch clause, a move ‘TNT’ said he would welcome.
However, Hearn – who promoted Paul’s professional debut – did not express much desire for a second meeting, and implored Paul to take on fellow influencer KSI.
“We’ve seen what they are, which is not very good.”
“Jake you can’t fight at any level professionally – fact. Just do one thing, go away, fight KSI, which is absolutely massive, because the reality is, anytime he fights anyone with any ability he’ll get beat.”
KSI defeated Paul’s brother Logan on Sky Sports Pay Per View back in 2019, and has been embroiled in a bitter back and forth feud with ‘The Problem Child’ since.
The rapper took to social media to slate Paul after his loss at the weekend, and claimed he would beat both he and Fury.
