During his time in the sport, Eddie Hearn has worked alongside some of the most fearsome boxers to walk the planet, but he has now revealed the name of one he regards the most dangerous he’s ever met.
As the promoter of Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn has staged fights involving some of boxing’s biggest and baddest names, such as Anthony Joshua, Canelo Alvarez, Artur Beterbiev, Carl Froch, and many more.
While most fans would believe that the heavyweight division would be the home to who Hearn deems as one of the most dangerous mn, it is in-fact a 140lb fighter that the boxing supremo is referring to.
Speaking to Boxing King Media, Eddie Hearn revealed that it is recent Matchroom signing Subriel Matias that has earned that new accolade, going on to explain just why he views him as one of the pound-for-pound best.
“He’s a world champion, he’s one of the most dangerous motherf***kers I’ve ever met in my life, and he’s pound for pound one of the most exciting fighters in probably the best and most exciting division in the sport.
“Now with our American arm we can go over and be in Puerto Rico and America with him. He will be in some massive fights, and I will put him in any fight and believe he has a great chance of winning it.”
Matias is the current IBF super-lightweight champion and holds a record 20 wins and just one defeat, with all 20 of his victories coming by knockout.
He is expected to return to the ring with a title defence in the near future, before then targeting potential unification bouts against the likes of Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez.
