Matchroom Promoter, Eddie Hearn, has claimed a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could earn each man over £100m.
Fury and Joshua have been linked to an all-English showdown ever since Fury made his comeback to the division in 2019. Since then, ‘The Gypsy King’ has claimed the WBC heavyweight belt, whilst Joshua has lost his unified titles, making Fury the heavy favourite if the two should meet.
Despite doubts from fans that the pair will ever fight each other, Hearn remains hopeful the clash will happen one day, telling The Overlap that it will be the ‘biggest fight of all time’ with each man earning a potential £100m.
“It has to be a fight, it has to be. Even if AJ loses to Wilder, even if Fury loses to Usyk, we have to see that fight. Listen, in an ideal world and I’m obviously bias, I think that AJ beats Wilder.
I think it will be the biggest fight of all-time. You just never know with Fury, he could hang them [gloves] up. I don’t think that he is over the moon to fight Usyk, he knows it’s a really tough fight. I think Fury wins and I think that he thinks he wins, but he also knows how good Usyk is, but they came up with the money and if they come up with the money he will fight. He thinks he can beat AJ as well, but he may take that fight [with Usyk] and then go missing.
They would make over £100 million each. If Fury beats Usyk and AJ beats Wilder, they would make over £100 million each. At that level, it becomes easy [to make], because it’s like ‘come on lads’.”
Fury’s next fight is against former UFC champion, Francis Ngannou, before challenging Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed title in either December or January.
