Eddie Hearn has stated that he believes Anthony Joshua’s rematch with OIeksandr Usyk will now take place in June.
After Anthony Joshua was relieved of his WBA, WBO & IBF titles last year, the Watford native had activated his contractual rematch clause.
With Russia invading Ukraine, the rematch between the newly-crowned unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua was thrown into doubt, leading to talks of the Brit taking an interim bout.
Talks over the last few weeks of potential opponents for Joshua had been mooted, with heavyweights Joseph Parker and Otto Wallin throwing their names into the hat.
However, according to TalkSPORT, Hearn has stated that the rematch now seems likely.
“Is AJ vs Usyk happening now? I actually think it will,” Hearn said. “I actually think that fight will happen next and it will happen in June.”
