Eddie Hearn has changed his mind on whether or not Kell Brook will cut short his retirement and return to the ring.
Brook has been out of action since his stunning knockout win over Amir Khan in Manchester last year, and Hearn had previously tipped the former world champion to fight on.
However, in a recent interview with IFL TV, Hearn conceded that the Sheffield man had more than likely boxed for the last time.
“I think Kell is probably done now, in his career.”
The Khan win was the crowning moment of a long career for Brook, stopping his long term rival in the sixth round in front of a cacophonous AO Arena.
A display so impressive that Matchroom boss Hearn seemed certain that it would not be Brook’s last.
“You could see him even walking to the ring that he just didn’t have the confidence in his eyes that we’re used to seeing from Amir Khan. I think Kell Brook will return, though. I think he actually looked good in that fight, so he’ll be back.”
Concerns have been raised for Brook’s welfare this past month, after a video was leaked on social media of the 36 year old snorting a white powder in his home.
The clip came after he had admitted prior to struggling with retirement, something that befalls so many former fighters.
He had been linked to comeback fights against the likes of Chris Eubank Jr, Liam Smith and even Conor Benn.
However, if Hearn’s recent interview is anything to go by, it looks like fans really have seen ‘The Special One’ for the last time.
