British featherweight “Lightning” Lee Selby made a 4th successful defence of his IBF featherweight world title at Wembley arena this weekend. the champion Selby from Barry, Wales took on mandatory contender Jonathan victor Barros. The contest was originally set for January on the undercard of the carl Frampton vs Leo Santa Cruz rematch in Las Vegas, due to serious illness the Argentinian pulled out of the fight only days before the contest was originally due to take place. In front of a packed out arena the welsh champion Selby, showed his class and superior boxing skills from the opening bell and continued to show his class through out.
Challenger Barros who was coming off the back of a seven fight winning streak cut Selby early but failed to capitalise and had very little success during the fight. Barros finally Succumb to pressure of Selby and was sent to the canvas in 12 and was seemingly saved bell. Selby regained his IBF crown with a landslide unanimous points decision victory over mandatory challenger Barros.
In a post fight interview live on itv box office Lee Selby spoke of his tough week and dedicated his victory to his late mother who died just 4 days prior to the fight. With featherweight rival Carl “The Jackal ” Frampton in Attendance surely the platform has now been set for a mouth watering domestic dust up between the pair !
