Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford have come face-to-face for the first time since their legacy fight was announced.
The two champions – Spence the WBC, WBA and IBF, Crawford the WBO – will lace up and face off to crown the first four-belt welterweight champion on July 29 in Las Vegas.
In the first kick-off press conference, Crawford (39-0) spoke of legends in the game before declaring today as his time.
“This era is the Terence Crawford era. Come fight night – he call himself the big fish, right? But what you do when the fish get took out the water? You suffocate it. Let’s go.”

He later said that it was a legacy fight that deserved to be the talk of the sport.
“He don’t like to back up. I’m the type of fighter where you push, I push even harder. You hit me, I wanna fight even harder … July 29th is gonna be a great night for boxing. This is a legacy fight, and it should be talked about in the whole boxing community.”
Spence, who is undefeated in 28, said simply that the winner would be the best boxer on the planet.
“This is gonna prove not only the best welterweight in the world, it’s gonna prove who the best fighter in the world is.
“If you’ve been craving one of those fights from the seventies, eighties, early nineties, you gotta tune into this fight man. This is a legendary fight … This is the biggest fight in boxing, period.”

He said he would roll Crawford up and smoke him in Vegas.
Crawford agreed that a win would solidify his status as the best fighter in the world, but Spence pushed back, claiming he had the best matchmaking. ‘You ain’t fought nobody’ he said, before the pair started arguing back and forth about their shared competition and who beat who better.

The unified champ said he would break Crawford down mentally and physically, claiming he didn’t pay attention to the bookmakers odds but said it was right he is the underdog given what’s happened outside of the ring.
A face-off ended proceedings, and it was as respectful as the rest of the presser. There’s an air of two men knowing that they don’t have to force trash talk or shove to sell the event. They simply have to fight, and it will be more than enough.
