Chris Eubank Sr Says He Can Get Conor Benn A British Boxing License: “I Know The Boss”

Chris Eubank Sr has always had plenty to say about the ongoing saga surrounding his son Chris Jr’s on-off fight with generational rival Conor Benn and has now claimed he could get the suspended fighter a licence because he ‘[knows] the boss.’

After their first proposed fight was canned late in the day when Benn returned adverse findings in pre-fight drug testing, there has long been rumours that the two Brits might get it on again.

Eubank Sr was always concerned about the weight difference between the two men and has reiterated that again by saying he would only give the fight his blessing if it were made at a catchweight.

The trouble is, Benn, who fights Pete Dobson this weekend in Las Vegas for only the second time in just under two years, does not yet have a licence from the British Boxing Board of Control.

Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, Eubank Snr has now suggested a solution.

“I get involved, I get his licence back. I know the boss, I’m very close to the boss. I’m not talking about [British Boxing Board of Control] chief Robert Smith.”

When asked who he knows, he refused to say.

“I can’t tell you.”

Discussion then turned to Eubank Sr’s nephew, Harlem, whom he thinks should get the Benn fight.

“He’s 19 fights unbeaten so on merit and merit alone he should get that fight, then the winner of that fight can go and clean up the world.”

It’s true that Harlem Eubank and Benn are both 147lb fighters, but the much bigger match is, and always will be, with Chris Eubank Jr.
