Fabio Wardley has not held back in his assessment of Boxxer’s decision to withdraw Frazer Clarke from the purse bids for a fight for Wardley’s British title, which was due to take place today.
Clarke was named mandatory challenger for the belt last month, and social media back and forth had caused fan excitement for a potential clash between the pair to grow.
However, it was announced at the last minute today that Boxxer had pulled Clarke from the bid, and Clarke had plenty to say about it when asked about the decision by Boxing Social.
“It doesn’t baffle me, it p****es me off to be honest. We were about to have one of the biggest British title fights this ever been, in the same realm as Dillian Whyte vs AJ and Joyce vs Dubois.”
“Everyone’s talking about it, everyone’s buzzing for it. We as a team are doing are bit, Eddie’s met with Ipswich to see about having the fight at Portman Road, which was a strong possibility.”
“While we’re doing all the leg work to put it all in motion for this massive fight, you’re off trying to make a s*** 6 rounder with f***ing Harry Armstrong. It doesn’t make sense.”
As referenced by Wardley, Clarke will take on the 5-3 Harry Armstrong in a six round contest on the undercard of Adam Azim vs Aram Faniian next month.
It remains unclear whether or not Wardley will fight an international opponent next or look to defend his title, as he has also been linked to fights with the likes of David Adeleye, Solomon Dacres and even the returning Dave Allen.
