Florian Marku will have his Albanian homecoming next month.
The Boxxer-promoted welterweight has made a home for his boxing career in the UK, selling a vast number of tickets for every event on which he has boxed.
Marku will meet Mexico’s Miguel Parra Ramirez (21-2-1, 14 KOs) at the Air Albania Stadium, Tirana, Albania. The WBC’s Silver interim belt is said to be at stake on the night.
‘The Albanian King’, who is trained by Grant Smith in Sheffield and managed by Adam Morallee’s SJAM Boxing, will be looking to fill out the 20,000-plus capacity football stadium in his native country, having been so keen to box there since the 29-year-old, whose last outing was a win against former British champion Chris Jenkins, turned professional in 2018.
Ramirez has only ever boxed outside of Mexico once, in the US back in May 2019, when he retired David Morales inside a round of a scheduled six at the Convention Center in Tucson, Arizona.
It is unclear at this stage whether Sky Sports, the host broadcaster of Marku’s promotional outfit Boxxer, will carry the fight.
