The much discussed boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor still has a few ‘ifs’ to overcome. But most likely the two will step into the same ring and Floyd is already making plans for the undercard.
“If me and Conor McGregor get in the ring, and I believe it will happen, I’d love to have Gervonta Davis on the undercard. I would also like Badou Jack to be on the undercard,” Mayweather said at the Copper Box Arena in London.
Both fighters are obviously a part of Mayweather’s crew. Davis, 22, retained his IBF super featherweight last Saturday by knocking out Liam Walsh in the third round. The Copper Box Arena saw what Mayweather calls ‘the future of boxing’.
Meanwhile, Jack (21-1-2, 12 KOs) fought last against James DeGale in a title unification bout that ended in a majority draw back in January. Jack is a former super middleweight champion who recently vacated his 168 pound belt and moved up to light heavyweight. Mayweather Promotions have not yet announced Jack’s first fight in the new weight class but it’s possible he gets his first go on the undercard of Mayweather-McGregor.

Mayweather’s easy decision win over Andre Berto in September 2015 is the last time we saw him in the ring. His record is clearly missing one win to make it an impressive 50 victories. While McGregor might not be the right opponent in the eyes of the boxing world, the money is just too good for Mayweather to decline. A pay-per-view of this magnitude could break all possible records and that’s exactly what ‘Money’ is after.
