# Former World Champion Says Conor Benn Is Being ‘Rewarded’ For Failing Test

Carl Frampton has weighed in a potential fight between Conor Benn and Manny Pacquiao, and to say it doesn’t sit well with Frampton is putting it lightly.

A comeback bout on June 3rd has long been touted for Benn, and [Pacquiao appears to be a frontrunner again after his manager Sean Gibbons confirmed he had agreed a deal](https://www.planetsport.com/boxing/news/manny-pacquiao-agreed-fight-conor-benn-confirms-promoter-sean-gibbons) to come out of retirement and face ‘The Destroyer.’

Frampton voiced his disproval for the fight in an interview with [SecondsOut,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_mgBZXWEfY&t=365s) claiming it would be “rewarding” Benn for failing the two VADA tests last year.

> “It’s all a mess. Conor Benn failed two drug tests, so he should serve a ban. Even if he failed through contamination, you should still serve a ban.”
>
> “He failed a drug test, and it looks like he’s going to be rewarded with a fight against a living legend, who’s coming out of retirement and is about 45 years of age, who he’ll probably beat up because he’s so much younger than him. And he makes a mountain of money.”
>
> “It’s almost like he’s getting rewarded for failing a drug test, which I don’t agree with. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon.”

‘Pac-man’ has been out of action for the best part of two years, after he announced his retirement following [defeat in a world title bout against Yordenis Ugas in 2021.](https://www.espn.co.uk/boxing/story/_/id/32064447/yordenis-ugas-upsets-manny-pacquiao-decision-retain-wba-title)

Chris Eubank Jr was favourite for a fight with Benn in Abu Dhabi, however [warnings from the British Boxing Control that his license could be revoked for facing the 25 year old](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/chris-eubank-jr-conor-benn-block-board/) appear to have scuppered the plans for the two family rivals to finally settle their differences.
